
Deck License Upgrades
The Maritime Institute of Technology and Graduate Studies (MITAGS) is one of the few schools in the United States that offers a complete line of training programs that are specifically designed to help mariners advance from Ordinary Seafarer to Unlimited Tonnage Master. For your convenience, the following is a complete listing of MITAGS programs that will lead to a specific license or endorsement.

Financial Assistance
Students who enroll in any of MITAGS' U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) approved training programs and courses may be eligible for tuition assistance from the following sources:
Employers:
Many employers have internal programs set-up to help mariners advance their career. Please check with your company's Human Resources Department to discuss their tuition assistance and tuition reimbursement policies.
Military Sealift Command:
The Military Sealift Command (MSC) offers a comprehensive tuition reimbursement program for mariners who are working for them. Veteran's Administration:
Veterans and their eligible dependants may quality for educational benefits via the Veteran's Administration (VA) G.I. Bill Educational Benefits Program. Central Scholarship Bureau (Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, Inc.):
The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation, Inc. supports the Central Scholarship Bureau in offering grants to full-time students in programs at private career schools. The intent of the program is to remove the financial barriers for motivated and promising Maryland residents who want to complete career training at a private career school in Maryland. Private Loans
Be aware that private career loans are credit-based. Therefore, in many case, a co-signer is required.
